Fletcher Allen Nurses Question Hiring Announcement

About 80 nurses attended Tuesday's annual meeting of the hospital's board of trustees. Jennifer Henry, a Fletcher Allen nurse and president of the Vermont Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, said a recent Fletcher Allen news release announcing the hiring of 113 nurses misled the public.
"The hospital hired 58 new nurses, the others were (Fletcher Allen) nurses who increased their hours, some by as little as four hours per week," Henry said. "Saying we hired 113 nurses gives the public a false sense that the issue of safe staffing at Fletcher Allen has been solved."
